Man struck by lightning laid to rest at Ndungiri as area MCA calls for sensitization on safety

Sombre mood engulfed ime village in Dungiri area of Kabazi Ward  in Nakuru county as elderly man struck by lightning was laid to rest on Thursday.

The late James Muna Ngure was struck by lightning last week as he was taking care of his animals near Ime Hill.

Kabazi Ward MCA Dr.Peter Mbae who attended the burial appealed for the need to sensitize society on matters lightning and safety during rainy season.

Mbae said the incident was shocking hence need to sensitize society on safety during rainy season.

He vowed to ensure the family members of the deceased are taken through counseling session to come to terms with the incident.

“It is so sad that we have lost one of our elderly persons here. But this is a call to all of us to be careful during rainy season in this area” he said.

The late Ngure according to the locals was struck by lightning while taking care of his animals around Ime Hill in Ndungiri,Kabazi Ward.

Gerald Kimang’a- a neighbor says the late was struck by lightning when it was raining as he was sheltering under a tree.

He adds that it has been long since the area witnessed such incident.

“The late was our neighbor but the area has not had such case for many years” he said.

The area MCA also using the moment to war elderly persons with health complications that they should avert unnecessary movements.

He said the elderly are at risk and should be taken care of by all in society including informing them on the need to have NHIF cards.
