Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has been urged to ensure actualization of the Internship Policy that was adopted by the County assembly of Nakuru in July,2019.
According to the policy which was initiated by Kabazi Ward MCA Dr.Peter Mbae, each ward is to recruit five graduate interns annually in various departments of the County.
The interns are supposed be paid a monthly salary of between Sh15,000 and Sh25,000.
The interns on the Nakuru County government payroll are also entitled to subsistence allowance when working out of their stations, 15 days annual leave and 30 days paid sick leave.
This means Sh50 million annually from the county budget will be channeled towards the same.
MCA Mbae who spoke on Friday during the launch of Kabazi Ward Youth Empowerment program,send a strong message to governor Kinyanjui.
Mbae who is also a member of the Budget committee at the County assembly of Nakuru said he will be watching keenly to see to it that the forthcoming supplementary budget has incorporated the same.
” We will be watching to see to it that the Governor actualizes the policy on internship” said Mbae.
However,speaking at the same venue, Nakuru Governor advisor on matters youth Sir Paul Ndirangu stated that the governor is committed when it comes to matters youths.
He said the policy was received and through the collaboration wit the county assembly,it shall be actualized.
“The governor is committed towards empowering youths and even the policy o internship was welcomed and will be actualized” said Sir Paul.
